Not sure how it’s better than a Matrix or Vibe (no, I do not care about the dual sunroofs), but it is semi-loaded and “modern.” I’ve posted about these many time before and the responses were mixed, especially from the Canadians. Who knows. I could like one. The XR Coupe is cooler, but a bit small.
It’s silver but meh, dems da breaks.

Part of me goes “yeah, it’s cool and European”, but the other part of me remembers that compared to its European counterparts, it really wasn't the best in its class. But that is really cheap.

$4k? That’s a heck of a car for that money. And I’m a Saturn hater to the core. The entire company should have never existed kind of hate. (Technically not a Saturn though.)

The Astra H was an okay car, neither great nor bad.
There is a lot you can do with them as they usually get handed down and used as cheap runabouts often to new drivers and modified to the hilt and driven by boy racers.

Ye’, the Vauxhall Astra has been a mainstay for many a small family since 1979 and sold all over the world. Inexpensive, reliable and cheap to repair.
It won’t set your world on fire but as I say they can be modified quite a bit to suit your wants. .

They’re not as bad as some say. My uncle had three Astras and put 65k miles on each in one year without any problems.

The next gen Opel Astra (gen J) was rebadged as the Buick Verano in the US. A poor Korean clone of a few generations back (gen E) was offered in the US as the Pontiac LeMans. Going back even a number of generations further (gen b or c, I’m not sure) it was offered at Buick dealerships again. Buick-Opel. We’re talking early 1970s here. So you could argue it’s got a lot of heritage.

For a DD, you could do worse. They seem to be reliable enough, and the interiors aren’t bad (Euro-GM design vs. North American GM design).
Our neighbours kid in university here in Nova Scotia has one and he seems to like it OK. He drives it semi-regularly from where we live to Antigonish, which is like a 300km/3hr trip and it seems to be holding up fine.

Wife has a 5-door XR with the pano-roof and 5MT.
Roof aside that car is exceptionally mediocre in every way.
The best I can say about it is that it works as a car.

The biggest complaints I’ve heard about these in the US is that parts are expensive when something goes wrong because there aren’t a ton of shared parts between this and other GM models sold in the US. That aside, it’s a decently sized hatchback with pretty good reliability (as far as I’ve heard) at a decent price. Not too many of those running around here.
